HOTEL & MOTEL

Motel  - is like a hotel but with the doors to the rooms are facing the parking lot. This makes it easy for travelers to go in and out. A motel is usually for people traveling by car & need a place to stay for the night. Motels are usually not expensive. Do you think we should stop off at a  motel  on the way to Florida. I am really tired of driving. I am going to stop off at a  motel  for the night. We did not stay in a  motel  when we drove to New York. Hotel   - is a resort or a place where tourist stay, the hallway is on the inside of the building; a hotel may offer many difference services such as food, conference room, entertainment etc. We are going to London for a week. I think we should stay in a really good  hotel . There are so many really expensive  hotels  in New York. I have never stayed in a really nice  hotel .

INJURED & and ILNESS

Injured  - damage to the body I  injured  my arm playing football. I fell down, and  injured  my leg. We were  injured  in a car accident. The girls did not get  injured , when they got hit by a car. Illness   - a disease; sickness I was in the hospital for 2 weeks, because of an serious  illness . I do not know what caused the  illness . Malaria is a serious  illness . Mental  illness  is a serious problem.

HEEL & HEAL

Heel  - the rear part of the foot, where it joins the leg; the part of a shoe's sole which supports the foot's heel The  heel  of my foot hurts. Do donkeys have  heels ? We want to get special shoes that support the  heels  of our feet. The  heels  of my feet are hard from walking around without shoes. Heal  - to recover from an injury My dog's leg was broken. My dog's leg is healing very well. I broke my arm. I have to wear a cast till my arm  heals . How long will it take my foot to  heal ? One of the basketball players on the team fell, and hurt his leg. It will take him time to  heal .

ILL & SICK

Ill  &  Sick  Are usually interchangeable when referring to someone not feeling well I am feeling  ill . I am feeling  sick . My donkey is very  ill . I called the doctor for him. My donkey is very  sick . I called the doctor for him. My sister is in the hospital. My sister is  sick . My sister is in the hospital. My sister is  ill . We are not feeling  sick . We are not feeling  ill .

HOUSE & HOME

Home  - a place where people live; a home is not a physical building I want to go  home . When will your sister be  home ? Do you still live at  home  with your family? The dogs at the dog shelter need a  home ? House  - a physical place where people live Do you live in a big   house ? I live in a very old   house . There are only three   houses   on my street. My sister bought a new   house .

The difference between Here & There

Here  - is used when something or someone is close I want you to come  here  to see me. I am already  here  so let me see if they have to stuff I need. I called my friend to tell her that I am  here . When you get  here  call me, and I will come outside to meet you. There  - is used when someone or something is not close or far If you are home I will come over  there . Do you like living over  there ? What time is it over  there  in New York? Note: Sometime here or there can be interchangeable (either word can be used)

Hill & Mountain

Hill  - is a small mountain The school is up the  hill . We walk up the hill everyday. We live on a small  hill  overlooking the park. Our house is on a  hill . We have a great view. We like to roll down the  hill  on boards. There are many  hills  where we live. Mountain  - is generally higher than a hill Do you live in the  mountains ? I do not want to live in the  mountains . Nepal has some of the highest  mountains  in the world. I love going  mountain  climbing. I want to go on holiday to the  mountains .

Hole  – means a space in something I have a big  hole  in my sweater. Do you know, that you have a  hole  in your pants? My sister made a  hole  in the sofa. My dogs like to dig  holes  in the soil (ground). Why is there a hole in the wall? Whole  – complete; not part; all of something My friend just finished the  whole  cake. The difference between "Hot & Warm"

Warm  – a little hot; not very hot It is  warm  outside today. It is not going to be very hot today. The weather is going to be  warm . I don't think I need to take a sweater. The water is really nice it  warm . It is good to go swimming. The food is still warm. You can eat the food. Hot  – a high temperature It is really  hot  outside. It is to  hot  too sleep. It too  hot  to go outside today. It is so  hot  in here. I am going to close the heater. The food is too  hot  to eat.

Homework  – school lessons that are done at home The teacher gives us a lot of  homework . The girl always do their  homework  after school. Did you get  homework  today? The teacher gives us so much  homework  during the winter break. I do not like to do my  homework . Housework  – chores that are done in the house such as cooking, cleaning, shopping etc. I need help doing the  housework . There is always so much  housework  that needs to be done. Does your sister also help with the  housework ? I always help my mother do the  housework . My father does not like to do  housework .

Have to & Must

"Have to" can be used as a main verb "Must" is a modal verb, and it can not be used as a main verb, so a main verb must be added, to the sentence when using "must" Must  - is used for to state personal personal obligation or respectability: there is no rule or law I  must  go to the store. We  must  learn English. I  must  go to sleep. We  must  help the lady next door. I  must  call my sister. Have to  - is used to state non-personal obligations or responsibly; a rule or law I  have to  pay our bill. The girls  have to  work late next week. I  have to  to work hard. We  have to  pay tax. Our teacher  has to  give us an exam. Note : Have To & Must are usually interchangeably Must Not  means forbidden!! not allowed to do something or go somewhere I  must not  pay the electric bill late. Don't have and Mustn't

Mustn't  - means forbidden; not allowed I  mustn't  pay the electric bill late. We  mustn't  drive a car without car insurance. I  mustn't  lose my passport. My boss  mustn't  to lock the door to the office. The children  mustn't  play near the street. Don't Have To  - something is optional; it is a choose I  don't have to  go to the store. We  don't have to  see my son's teacher. The teacher  doesn't  have to stay late today. My sister  doesn't  have to pay me back I  don't have to  call my sister she, because I will see her in a few days.

Injured and Wounded

Injured  - to cause harm to a human, animal or plant I  injured  my arm playing basketball. Did anyone get  injured  in the car accident? How did you get  injured ? My sister has a head  injury , but she will be OK? Wounded  - to cause harm by a war or terrorism How many soldiers got  wounded  in world war 2? I don’t like to see people  wounded . People always get  wounded  in wars. There were a lot of  wounded  civilians. It is very sad.

Hope and wish

Hope  – is used when there is a possible that something can happen I  hope  to pass my English exam. We  hope  you come to visit us next year. My sister  hopes  to get a good job. I  hope  it does not rain on Sunday. My father  hopes  to move to a bigger house soon. Wish  – is used when there is little or no possible that something can happen I  wish  I was younger. We  wish  that we win the lottery. I  wish  that I could visit you, but I do not have any money. I wish I was not sick. I am feeling so horrible. My father always  wishes  he had more money.
